Vicar - Benefice and Parish of North Thornaby

This is a parish within the catholic tradition of the Church of England. The congregation is of modest size but loyal, and there has been effective pastoral contact with young people. There is real potential for fresh leadership to release a sense of energy and expectation for growth, together with increased confidence in looking outwards, beyond the internal life of the congregation.

The incumbent is an important figure to whom many people beyond the congregation, living and working in the parish, can relate.

As the PCC has formally petitioned the Archbishop of York for extended episcopal oversight, this post is open to male clergy only.

We are praying for a priest who will:

· be a man of prayer whose spiritual life centres on the Eucharist
· hold a Traditionalist, catholic position, whilst recognising the ministries of all ordained clergy within the Church of England
· have a passion for evangelism
· be an effective leader, with strong personal motivation and drive
· be an inspiring preacher, teacher and spiritual director
· have secure liturgical understanding, and commitment to developing occasional services to complement the Mass

If you would like to have an informal conversation about this post, please contact the Bishop of Beverley, the Rt Revd Glyn Webster (01904 628155), the Bishop of Whitby, the Rt Revd Paul Ferguson (01642 593273), or the Archdeacon of Cleveland, the Ven Samantha Rushton (01642 706095).

The post is open to male priests of the Church of England or a church in full communion with it. Appointment is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS disclosure.

The closing date for applications is 3rd September 2018. Interviews will be held on 26th September 2018
